Feel the Beat of Change: Melodies of Unity in Times of Uncertainty: Online Music Festival
On December 7th, over 60 people from around the globe came together online to experience the magic of music and unity. We listened to incredible young artists who shared their Human Rights songs with us, and we discussed how we wish the world to Change as well as connected with the themes of Human Rights, Rule of Law, Democracy, Equality, Freedom and Human Dignity!
We were completely blown away by their artistic visions for a better world and their amazing music videos. If you missed the festival – don’t worry, you can listen to all their songs on our YouTube channel, and watch a recording of the event below.
A BIG BIG THANK YOU to everyone involved: all the organisations, the talented young musicians, as well as the audience, who all helped to make it a very special event.
C2 Blended Mobility, Utrecht, Netherlands
From 5th – 10th of August the Songs For Change Partners travelled to Utrecht for our International Blended Mobility. During the week-long program, young participants learnt about EU Values, as well as having the chance to express themselves using music as the main tool.
The young people, who came from all around Europe, enthusiastically shared their unique perspectives and collaborated with each other to create some very powerful and moving songs. They developed their songwriting techniques through group brainstorming and visualisation exercises, with a specific focus on how EU values can be expressed and advocated through music.
At the end of the week, the young musicians performed in front of an invited audience full of special guests, and made live recordings of their Songs For Change. We were completely blown away by everyone’s electric energy, enthusiasm, confidence and talent!
If you are curious to listen to their songs, head over to our instagram and watch some of their powerful performances.
C2 Online Sound Factory
In September, ahead of the blended mobility in Utrecht, 21 participants and young musicians got together to collectively collaborate online and begin their song creation process. They went into breakout rooms to discuss the meaning and importance of the 7 EU Values: Human Dignity, Freedom, Equality, Rule of Law, Democracy, Human Rights
Each group created a short poem about what these values meant to them, which you can read below.
C1- Training of Trainers, Herl'any Slovakia
The C1 Training of Trainers activity, held in Herl'any, Slovakia, in February 2023, marked an important milestone in the "Songs for Change"project. The group consisted of 13 participants from the consortium of partners. Two team members from each implementing partner organisation were selected and trained to be prepared to implement the gained knowledge in local workshops after the training.
During the C1 activity, the participants engaged in practical exercises to familiarise themselves with the content and methodology of the LCPA method (Learn, Create, Produce, Advocate). The method's four pillars were explored in-depth, aligning with the four project results described earlier. It successfully prepared the selected team members from implementing partner organisations to act as trainers, ensuring they were equipped with the necessary skills and competences to implement the LCPA method in local workshops with young people.
The activity in Herlany, Slovakia, also fostered collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the building of a network of competence and support among youth workers from different countries. Moving forward, the project will continue with the implementation of local workshops, where the trained trainers will apply the LCPA method and collect feedback from young participants.
This feedback will further refine the project's results and ensure its alignment with the needs of the target group.
During this Training of Trainers, the participants also wrote, composed and recorded a song “Stones” in different languages and on the topics of EU values in particular about human dignity and human rights. You can listen to the full song here.
